Schmalz Elementary school counselors
Hello, I am so excited about joining the Shark family as a counselor this year! I previously served the campus as the LSSP and am honored to continue to support as a counselor! I believe collaboration is at the heart of what I do and I am happy to collaborate with teachers, staff ,and parents to support the social, emotional, and academic needs of our students. In addition to being a certified school counselor and special education teacher, I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Nationally Certified Counselor, and a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP). I have a variety of clinical and school based experience. This experience includes providing services to juveniles on probation, crisis intervention in the psychiatric hospital setting, and geriatric care just to name a few. I have a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology, a Master of Arts in Counseling, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. I am married with four children, two of whom are also part of the Schmalz family. During my free time, I love spending time with my family, reading about nutrition, wellness, and essential oils.

Welcome/Bienvenidos Sharks! I am beyond excited to be serving as your school counselor this year. Family is everything and I want to thank you for trusting us to help your child reach their fullest potential. I am looking forward to supporting our students by making a difference in their lives. The difference isn't always measurable by test scores, but it can be measured in the hearts and minds of our children. I am bilingual and I have more than 20 years of experience in education, I have a M.Ed. in School Counseling, and I am also a certified administrator. I am trained on the founding principles of 7 Mindsets, Youth Mental Health First Aid, The National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children (TLC), and the Stand Strong – Stay Safe with CHILD Builders. I utilize the strategies from my training to create a positive school and classroom environment amongst educators. During my free time, I enjoy laughing and building memories with my son and daughter, listening to podcasts, and learning about healing foods.
